design / biomaterials / hand crafted pieces

I have always thought that objects should hold more significance and serve a purpose beyond their function. We create a close relationship with the objects we surround ourselves with..

In my design projects I try to craft unique pieces that interact with the viewer and the space they inhabit. Crafted pieces with rich colors, interesting shapes and unexpected materials. The way an object stands, holds, illuminates and interacts with a space is just as part of the object as its materiality.

In my projects I like to experiment with different materials as well as create my own. Design with a modern craftsmanship approach.

Frutero ร– / basket / 2023

(ceramic beads, recovered wire & lots of patience)

Hanging fruit basket designed for the foundation Casa do Brasil in Madrid. It imitates the form of the net bags usually used to package fruit.

I designed a special weaver to make the process easier. It is meant to hang and hold fruit or vegetables.

BIOPLASTICS / LAMPS / DESIGN / Crafted by hand

Collection of threeย bioplastic lampsย I designed and built as my final project for my studies in IED Madrid . It was an exercise that allowed me to combine the technical skills I learned and my passion for experimental materials.

Bioplastic samples vs light: photography collection (2024)

For this project I developed a bioplastic textile derived from agar-agar seaweed. I got obsessed with the mix of diferent medium pigments and the variety of their textures. I created a photo-catalogue of the samples, and chose my favorite three to build these lamps.

When backlit, they take on an almost liquid quality up close and cover the environment in a vibrant, colorful glow.

HANDCRAFT / BEADS / PERSONAL PROJECT

*

Originally I made this bag as a gift for my mom. It was inspired by one that my grandma had given to me as a gift. I had never worked on something that took so much patience and attention to detail. Each bead was sown with a needle by hand. It took me 4 years to finish, but it became a way of learning through making and the importance of details.
